About Our Expert: Bob Karan

Bob started out as a clean-up worker on his father’s construction projects, and then with more involvement and dedication in his father's construction company honed his skills as a carpenter.  He used these years of hands on experience while running his own construction company, managing projects ranging in size from 1,000 to 11,000 square feet.  He has been accepted into the New Jersey Superior Court as a Construction Expert and participated in over 30 construction litigation cases, providing construction expertise based on his 50+ years in the industry.  His expertise includes building code compliance, building materials standards, building plan reviews, technical plan reviews, field inspections, construction defect mitigation, window warrantee and claims, and water infiltration on roofing, decking, basements and cladding.

He holds a BS in Business Education from Monmouth College and is licensed and certified by the NJ Department of Community Affairs as a(n):

  • Construction Code Official

  • Building Sub-Code Official 

  • Residential/Commercial Specialist 

  • Industrial/Commercial Specialist
